An artist recently painted Hyrule’s vista from Zelda: Breath of the Wild, achieving excellent results. The most recent Zelda games broke several traditions, but also helped the franchise to become even more popular than it was before.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a landmark in the gaming world. Released back in 2017, it allowed gamers to explore a vibrant, open-world version of Hyrule filled with secrets. Soon, it became the best-selling entry in the franchise. Tears of the Kingdom is set to be even more successful, as it has passed over 18 million units in only two months, while Breath of the Wild took six years to reach 30 million sales.
Now, a Legend of Zelda fan called Amy Webb (or bunnybopss on Reddit) unveiled a masterfully crafted painting of Hyrule’s landscape in Breath of the Wild. The painting was well-received by the community, and it managed to gain over 1,500 upvotes in the r/zelda subreddit. In this gorgeous oil painting, Amy recreated the vista of Hyrule, including some locations that fans of the franchise will recognize, such as Hyrule Castle and Death Mountain. What truly makes the work stand apart from other fan art is how masterfully painted it is, as the author employs a style that makes Hyrule look as magical and mysterious as in the games. According to Amy, who also paints non-gaming-related scenes, Breath of the Wild is her favorite game ever, which is what inspired her to start this work.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the picture is how it perfectly captures the sense of expansiveness of Zelda games. Breath of the Wild revolutionized the open-world genre with loads of freedom by allowing gamers explore and engage with the world on their own terms. Recently, Tears of the Kingdom refined this design choice by allowing the players to have a greater expression by building new weapons and vehicles.
Amy’s work is not the only recent example of Zelda fan art. A few weeks ago, another Zelda fan painted Zelda’s study and shared it online. In this piece, which was created by rinsachii, it’s possible to see Hyrule’s princess working in a study packed with books, scrolls, and other items.
