Final Fantasy 14 players will soon be able to rise as the Phoenix and transform into the mythical firebird during the game’s 10th Anniversary celebration. The Rising Phoenix mount will be available to Final Fantasy 14 players who complete a quest that will only be available for a limited time. However, more quests and activities will be available for players to enjoy during the celebration.

Just before the 10th Anniversary begins in Final Fantasy 14, players will only have a couple more days to take part in the Moonfire Faire and earn the Phoenix Riser outfit. Inspired by shows such as Power Rangers and Kamen Rider, the Phoenix Riser attire features one of the game’s few helmets visible to Viera and Hrothgar players, and can be dyed in various colors. The Moonfire Faire concludes on the morning of Saturday, August 26, after which the Phoenix Riser outfit will be unavailable to obtain until 2024 when it will be sold on the FF14 Online Store. However, Final Fantasy 14 will celebrate a major milestone starting the very next day.

Starting Sunday, August 27 at 12:00 AM Pacific, the 10th Anniversary edition of The Rising will take place in Final Fantasy 14. The event will conclude in early October with the launch of Patch 6.5, Growing Light. Players who want to obtain the Rising Phoenix mount will need to speak with the Miqo’te named Kipih Jakkya in Ul’dah to start the “Siblings Rising” quest chain. After completing the quest, players will be awarded the ability to turn into the Rising Phoenix, which can use a special action called “A Flame Reborn” for some cosmetic flair. Players can also spend a few gil to collect a new poster to put in their house and can take part in a separate side quest to learn more about both the Phoenix and a long-departed character.

The Phoenix is a major symbol of both Final Fantasy 14 and Creative Business Unit 3, the developer of the critically acclaimed MMORPG. Following the disastrous 1.0 release of Final Fantasy 14 in 2010, the game was shut down in 2012 and relaunched in 2013 as A Realm Reborn. Since then, Final Fantasy 14 has had a decade of change and growth on its way to becoming one of the most beloved entries in the Final Fantasy series.

Like the Phoenix it reveres, Final Fantasy 14 has risen from the ashes of a disappointing launch. With the Dawntrail expansion arriving in 2024, it remains to be seen what Square Enix will do in the next decade.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5, with an Xbox Series X/S version launching in spring 2024.
